Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350: The true classic cruiser

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird series was introduced in the country way back in 2002 with AVL engine while the present UCE 350 cc model arrived in 2009.

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 was facelifted version in October 2012 and it now has a projector headlamp, teardrop shape fuel tank, projector headlamp, fuel gauge and an analogue setup for the speedo and tacho. Moreover, there is an LED tail light as well.

Styling

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 is available in five different colour options – Marine, Lightning, Stone, Flicker and Asphalt. It gets black finish on the headlight dome and the LED DRL offered as well. The telescopic fork and the exhaust tip also get the black paint. The grab tail section of the bike gets a new design with a backrest for the pillion.

The motorcycle rides on the 19-inch multiple spoke alloy wheels. The front wheel is wrapped in 90 mm MRF Zapper FM tyre and the rear one gets covered by a 120 mm MRF Zapper C tyre.

Engine specifications and fuel efficiency

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 is equipped with a 346 cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine. This torque-rich motor can make a maximum of 19.8 bhp power, which comes at 5,250 rpm, and the peak torque is 28 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The drive is sent to the wheel via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The engine is good enough to be offering up to 25 to 30 kmpl mileage in real road conditions. It features 20 litres of fuel tank capacity and can provide an overall riding range of up to 600 kilometres.

Features

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 comes with a twin-pod instrument cluster which contains some quality features like tripmeter, analogue speedometer and odometer. Moreover, there are other equipment like gets fuel gauge, fuel warning indicator, low battery indicator, low oil indicator, a grab rail for the pillion and an engine kill switch. At the front, a projection type headlight is offered and the rear has LED tail lamp. The headlamp has great illumination.

Braking and handling

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 comes with disc brakes on both the wheels. A 280 mm disc does the braking duty at the front while the rear gets a 240 mm unit.

Speaking of the suspensions, the bike features a 110 mm telescopic travel suspension with 41 mm (diameter) forks at the front and the rear one is equipped with twin gas-charged shock absorbers with 80 mm travel suspension. The springs have a 5-step adjuster as well.
